Carol G. Barton is senior vice president, commercial lines for FM Global.
Named to the position in 2001, Barton oversees the operations of Affiliated FM
Insurance Company and Mutual Boiler Re, two of the company's affiliates.
Barton also has overall responsibility for the cargo line of business. She
is based in FM Global's corporate offices in Johnston, R.I., USA.
In 2000, Barton was named one of the "100 leading women" in insurance by
Business Insurance magazine, which recognised her for her strong influence in the
marketplace, among other achievements. She has invested more than 30 years of service with FM Global.
Most recently, Barton was vice president and manager of Affiliated FM,
based in its corporate offices in Johnston, R.I., USA. In that position, which she held for four years,
she directed a range of functions, including engineering and underwriting for commercial property
operations.
Barton was located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for much of her more than 30-year career with the company,
serving as vice president, operations manager - Eastern Canada from 1991-1997 and manager for commercial
property operations for three years before that. For more than a decade Barton worked in various account
management positions, most recently as an account executive from 1982-1987. She was account representative
for the four years before that and began her account run as field accounts administrator through 1978. Barton
joined the company in a sales support position in 1973.
Barton was educated in Canada, receiving a diploma from Sir George William Business School in Montreal and
an associateship designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada in Toronto.
Appointed in July 2001, Michael Lebovitz is vice president
and manager of Affiliated FM, a business unit of FM Global.
In this role, Lebovitz is responsible for managing the day-to-day
operations of the company, including production, underwriting,
engineering and support functions. He is based in Johnston, R.I., USA.
Previously, Lebovitz had served as Affiliated FM's operations vice
president, area manager for Southern operations since 1998, after
serving three years as district manager for the company's Atlanta
operation. Prior to that, Lebovitz held a number of positions at FM Global
in underwriting and sales. He joined the FM Global organisation in 1985 as
a loss prevention consultant.
Lebovitz holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the
Georgia Institute of Technology.
Tim Higgins is operations vice president, director of
Affiliated FM’s Australian operations. Based in the company’s
Sydney, Australia office, Higgins is responsible for
operations and client servicing in Australia and New Zealand
territory. In this role, Higgins manages an underwriting,
engineering and administrative staff that targets middle
market commercial and industrial property accounts.
Appointed to his current position in 2007, Higgins has
spent more than 20 years in the insurance industry. He joined
Affiliated FM on the opening of their Australian Branch in
2003 as a senior production underwriter. Higgins was part of
the key team in establishing Affiliated FM in the region and
bringing new innovative commercial property products to a
traditional insurance market. He was promoted to assistant
vice president in 2006 before assuming his current role. Prior
to joining Affiliated FM he had worked in a variety of roles
within the industry, including national property manager,
state property underwriter and accident underwriter in both
the states of New South Wales and Victoria.
Higgins has completed a number of leadership and management
courses offered through FM Global, Affiliated FM’s parent
company, as well insurance studies offered through the
Australian New Zealand Insurance Institute and other
organizations.
